One of the forms of student activity in the time of the Second Polish Republic was engaging in scientific circles which dealt primarily with scientific research and self-teaching, nevertheless, also constituted a popular social sphere. The history of the organizations that were the predecessors of scientific circles on the territory of Poland dates back to the 19th century. The development of scientific circles falls on 1920-1939. These organizations functioned in all higher education institutions in the country. In the 20s of the 20th century, it is clearly noticeable that the students’ circles strive to integrate with various other student associations. This served a purpose for a better cooperation, gaining more influence and thus for better resources. In order to integrate the scientific circles, Ogólnopolski Związek Akademicki Kół Naukowych (Polish National Association of Academic Scientific Circles) was founded, which operated in the span of 1929-1933. This association animated the students’ movement, supported publishing of scientific journals, cared and improved the quality of the scientific circles. The above association was, however, disbanded due to the higher education reform in 1933. This paper outlines the formation of a Polish national organization founded to represent scientific circles. There are presented the most important activities taken by Ogólnopolski Związek Akademicki Kół Naukowych (Polish National Association of Academic Scientific Circles), and also present closer some personalities associated with it. This is the first such extensive study on Ogólnopolski Związek Akademicki Kół Naukowych (Polish National Association of Academic Scientific Circles).
