The complexity of Polish-Ukrainian relations beteween 1939 and 1947 has been examined by numerous Polish and Ukrainian historians. The selected elements of these relations existed in different circles of modern Polish and Ukrainian society. In western Ukraine these elements are components of a group identity which creates Galician mythology, which in turn creates the specter of old Polish-Ukrainian conflicts existing in a modified shape. Achievements in modern cultural anthropology and neurolinguistic programming represent a means to overcoming these obstacles.
