The aim of this study was to define dependency of employment and selfesteem, coping with stress and social competences in a group of 250 women with physical disabilities, with different employment status or lack of work. Research tools were: a personal survey developed for the purposes of this study, the Social Competences Questionnaire, the CISS and Selfesteem Scale (SES) constituted the data collection instrument. Working women had significant higher level of selfsteem in comparision to other groups. Women working on sheltered labor market had significantly higher general social comptences and those competences which determine the effective behavior in intimate situations. In situations requiring assertiveness women working on sheltered labor market deals better in competition to other groups.
Artykuł prezentuje badania, których celem było określenie zależności między aktywnością zawodową a samooceną, radzeniem sobie ze stresem i kompetencjami społecznymi w grupie 250 kobiet niepełnosprawnych ruchowo, o różnym statusie zatrudnienia lub braku pracy. Do badań wykorzystano ankietę osobową, Kwestionariusz Kompetencji Społecznych, CISS oraz Skalę Samooceny SES. Jak wykazały wyniki badań, kobiety pracujące miały istotnie wyższy poziom samooceny w porównaniu z niepracującymi. Kobiety pracujące w zakładach pracy chrnionej miały istotnie wyższy poziom kompetencji społecznych oraz tych, które warunkują efektywne zachowania w sytuacjach intymnych. W sytuacjach wymagających asertywności istotnie lepiej radzą sobie kobiety zatrudnione w zakładach pracy chronionej.
