Cel: Celem artykułu jest zbadanie odwzorowania pracy przymusowej w systemie rachunkowości na przykładzie przedsiębiorstwa OSTI (SS Ostindustrie GmbH) oraz analiza, interpretacja i ocena regulacji rachunkowości w tym przedsiębiorstwie. Metodyka/podejście badawcze: W artykule zastosowano metodę historyczną polegającą na badaniu źródeł o charakterze archiwalnym. Podejście badawcze zastosowane w artykule wykorzystuje teorie społeczne Achille Mbembego (nekropolityki, postkolonializmu). Wyniki: W wyniku badania ustalono, że pracownik przymusowy był traktowany jako zasób podlegający zużyciu, którego kresem była śmierć. Ideologia nazistowska angażowała rachunkowość, co ułatwiało maksymalizacje jej niszczycielskiego zasięgu. Podkreślono także znaczenie funkcji rozliczeniowej rachunkowości w strukturach SS. Ograniczenia/implikacje badawcze: Głównym ograniczeniem badawczym jest niewielka liczba zachowanych materiałów archiwalnych dotyczących rachunkowości w przedsiębiorstwie OSTI. Praktyczne implikacje: Wyniki badań stanowią wkład do rozwoju dalszych interdyscyplinarnych badań na pograniczu dyscyplin prawa, rachunkowości, historii gospodarczej, ekonomii i finansów nad zjawiskami pracy przymusowej. Oryginalność/wartość: W artykule użyto nowatorskiej ramy teoretycznej Achille Mbembego, przy zastosowaniu której przedstawiono rachunkowość przedsiębiorstwa OSTI oraz interdyscyplinarne podejście do zagadnień pracy przymusowej.

Purpose: The aim of the paper is to examine the representation of forced labor in the accounting system and to analyze, interpret, and evaluate the accounting regulations of the company Osti (SS Ostindustrie GmbH). Methodology/approach: The historical method is used, which comprises researching archival sources. The research employed Mbembe’s social theories (i.e., the concepts of necropolitics and postcolony). Findings: The study establishes that a forced laborer was treated as a resource, subject to consumption, which ended in death. Nazi ideology involved accounting, which helped maximize its destructive reach. The importance of the clearing function of accounting is also emphasized. Research limitations/implications: The basic research limitation is the small number of preserved archival materials concerning Osti’s accounting regulations. Practical implications: The research contributes to the development of further interdisciplinary research on the phenomena of forced labor at the intersection of law, accounting, economic history, economics, and finance. Originality/value: The article uses the original theoretical framework of Achille Mbembe, which constitutes a useful approach to Osti accounting. It also opens an interdisciplinary field regarding the issues of forced labor.
