The aim of the paper is to explore the topic of relations between social and technical sciences and visual art. It also examines the existence or the possibilities of implementation of so-called interdisciplinary gallery programmes which aim to address potential art lovers through their own academic or professional interest. Social and technical branches which are associated with the projects of contemporary visual art are involved. The dissertation thesis is based on two investigations using a method of questionnaire: an investigation focused on preception and understanding of visual art conducted in 2005 among students of selected faculties in Brno and an investigation conducted among visitors of selected regional galleries in the Czech Republic in 2006–2007.
