Abstracts
The positivist who turn toward naturalism and empiricism has contributed significantly to the expansive development of physical culture in the nineteenth century. During this period, physical education gained the status of subject taught in school. Sport is perceived not only as general upbringing tasks, but also utilitarian. Ball games and gymnastics develop strength and beauty of the body. The article presents the views of the most prominent thinkers of the nineteenth century in the field of physical education.
