This article is devoted to the heterogeneity of genre and style of wedding invitations. This type of text is frequently modified by various adaptations (e.g. global and partial), which are the result of sender’s intentional activity. The authors of the texts carry out an experiment with many patterns of text concerning the ceremony of marriage: artistic (poetry), religious (marriage vows, the Bible), utilities (playbill), official or law (summons to the verdict announcement). Moreover, they use various styles (artistic, scientific, official, colloquial) and Polish language variants (everyday, colloquial, poetic or specialized language, or dialects). Such a deliberate action of the sender is aimed at defying social conventions, finding new and attractive forms of expression along with writing, unique texts (often) full of sophisticated humour.
