Outlining the basic elements of the church musician ethos, makes his work to be seen, not only as a profession but first of all as the calling. To enable the musician to experience his artistic and personal identity in the right way, it is important for him to accept both the attitude of contemplation in the face of beauty of faith and readiness to give witness. Benedict XVI paid attention to this, naming artists “witnesses of the beauty of faith” (pulchritudinis fidei testis) and calling them to participating in the Church mission, especially then, when they create works of art directly connected with the liturgical acttivities of the Church.
