The text presents the book which is the effect of the second meeting in a series of "Awakening Humanities Colloquia", which was held on 26th - 28th November 2010 in Międzyzdroje under the slogan “Cognitive obstacles to the development of arts: traditions, specialties, discourses, handbooks”. The reviewed set is a collection of great texts by participants of the Colloquium. This valuable collection is characterized by the apparent diversity; the authors present their own positions, concepts and thoughts. However, despite the considerable diversity of themes the book is characterized by a rare for this type of projects collective mental consistency. One can point out at least two sources of this cohesion: aversion to imposed, and applicable in academic practice standards and shallow narratives, and concern about the state of science in regards to the searching scientist who is always open to new theoretical impulses .
