Cross-border co-operation constitutes an important element of the bilateral co-operation, since it contributes to the strengthening of Polish – German partnership. Frames of Polish – German co-operation are defined in the treaty of 1991. Location of Western Pomerania, as the most west-northern Polish region facilitates good neighbor relations, mainly with Germany and Scandinavia. The Westpomeranian Region (former Szczecin Voivodship) has been co-operating with the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern since 1991. In 1997 both regional authorities came up with the idea of organizing mutual presentations of cultural character joined with the business and science, in co-operation with the Pomerania Euroregion. They have been organized incessantly since 1998 up till now. Favourable political atmosphere connected to the openness of the inhabitants of both regions succeeded in creation in Szczecin Polish – German Business House which initiated organized constantly meetings of Polish and German entrepreneurs in the frames of so called Business (Economic) Circle.
