The purpose of this article is to illustrate the Czechoslovak politics towards Portugal after the Portuguese military coup on 25th April 1974. The Portuguese revolutionary years 1974‒1976 attracted the attention of both superpowers of the cold war. This article mainly founded on the information from the Czech National Archive and the Archive of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs is concerned with the traditional development of the diplomatic relations between Portugal and Czechoslovakia as well as a specific part of the Czechoslovak policy during the communist regime – cooperation between Czechoslovak and Portuguese Communist Party.
