This study analyzes one of the most important strike in Ostrava-Karviná mining district in the context of labor movement. The study describes the fight between hierarchical and paternalism conception of authority mirrored the aristocratic character of governance in Monarchy and presented by Vítkovice Directorate and growing labor movement reflected the rise of mass politics in the Monarchy. These strike highlights the interconnection between economic and political authority as well as the increasing militancy of the population as a whole.
