The paper presents the role of the Third Age University in counteracting the effects of marginalization of the elderly. It outlines the history of the University of the Third Age and describes its different models. Finally, the paper presents some new trends in research conducted by participants of the UTA and shows how those trends are related to the problem of marginalization.
