Stany Zjednoczone Ameryki Północnej od dawna angażują się w konflikty na Bliskim Wschodzie. Ich obecność w tym rejonie od czasu II wojny światowej jest wynikiem strategicznego znaczenia surowcowego i geopolitycznego Bliskiego Wschodu. Artykuł ma na celu zwrócenie uwagi na zjawisko redukcji liczby wojsk amerykańskich stale stacjonujących w tym regionie oraz przeanalizowanie znaczenia amerykańskich baz wojskowych dla przeciwdziałania aktualnym zagrożeniom bezpieczeństwa.

United States, have great power status and engage in conflicts taking place in the Middle East. This is a result of the importance of Middle East Region in foreign policy strategies and security strategies of the powers. United States' military presence in this strategic region has continued since the 2nd World War. The main aspects of the US presence in the region include the question of ensuring an uninterrupted flow of raw materials and maintenance of the system of strategic alliances in the Middle East, created in the late 20th century, and ensuring relative security in this part of the world. This presence provides the US supremacy in the region and eliminates the influence of individual competitors such as Russia or Iran. The purpose of this article is to draw attention to the US military presence in the region, both in the past and today, and the role that US held the Middle East in American politics over the years, from the end of 2nd World War.The author intends to draw attention to the trend that can be observed in recent years: reducing the military forces permanently stationed in the Middle East. The autor of this paper have intends to analyze the position of the United States military bases in the region and describe the strategic importance of some of these bases in responding to contemporary security threats.
