The article discusses the institution of senate councils (senatus consilium) during the reign of Władysław IV Vasa. The author focuses on the rules of procedure and relies on source materials to examine the senate’s proceedings in the absence of formal regulations. An important observation that emerges from this work is that Władysław IV Vasa had the greatest influence on the senate’s proceedings and its legislative rulings.
