The world economic crisis has had a big impact on the air transport business efficiency. Its effects are still present and require difficult and costly actions to be taken not only by airports managements, but also urban agglomerations’ authorities. Managers responsible for air transport coordination, with their limited investment funds, are forced to continuously improve the effectiveness of f light economics and of airports’ utilization. The article presents the outcomes of the economic crisis of the air transport busi- ness in Poland. It describes the circumstances conditioning the development of Katowice-Pyrzowice Airport and its future in a staggering economy, with special consideration to investments widening the availability of airport services within the urban agglomeration.
