This article explores the status and specificity of the institutional organization of the political system in the Russian Federation. The work substantiates the position that the institutional organization of the political system of modern Russia, formalized as reflected in the Constitution of the Russian Federation, as well as practice of the activity of political institutions, still does not fully meet each other. The article examines the causes and conditions that led to the emergence of contradictions between the reality of conceptual models, characterized by a departure from the political-institutional messages of the Russian Constitution and the traditional understanding of the principle of separation of powers and the essence of democracy. This article uses a number of methods of scientific research, in particular: formal-logical; historical and legal method; comparison; analysis and synthesis.
