The author describes a Renaissance burgher house situated at No 1 Hieronim Wietor Street, at Lubomierz. The said town was a trade centre in 1530—1618 and its Renaissance buildings, preserved until this day, were constructed after Thirty Years’ War (1618—1648). It is from that period, too, that the burgher houses date surrounding the long rectangular market-place of Lubomierz. They were built in crushed stone and brick with lime-clay mortar. The house discussed is the first in the row o f dwelling houses running from west to east in the southern frontage of the market square. It is a valuable monument o f architecture on account of its purely Renaissance spatial layout, original plastic composition o f the three-span interior and, above all, on account of the centrally located sumptuous inner court covered with umbrella roof. The author gives a detailed formal description o f the building. As follows therefrom the spatial layout of rooms and other accommodations at the respective floors, as well as the division o f the elevations, have been planned in a free and unsymmetrical way. The most important element o f the layout is the inner court with a barrel vault having two pairs o f lunettes. It was once used for representation functions as testified to by some of the preserved fragments e.g. the wrought iron balustrade, the staircase connecting the first and the third span of the first floor, and the said barrel vault with lunettes of profiled edges. The author concludes her communique in a postulate for the earliest possible commencement of conservation of that historical burgher house which, uninhabited for a long time past, is going to ruin.
