The microtoponymic system that formed in Masuria after 1945 and was observed during terrain exploration conducted during the 1980s was characterized by great richness of names created according to simple naming models. The new terrain names originated as a result of toponymization of appellative terrain descriptions as well as transfer of proper names of other objects without formal changes. Names were also created by juxtaposition of two components, and more rarely several, and also elliptical adjectival and prepositional names coming from them in a process of univerbization. The predominant structure in the set of microtoponyms of this terrain is prepositional. The material presented, collected in the early 1980s, shows the specific character of the name system that formed in this area and documents a certain stage in the annals of creation of the local microtoponymic system in rural interacting communities in Masuria and Warmia after 1945.
