The history of Polish State Police in the years 1919-1939 is still partially unknown. One of these unknown elements is the history of VII (Cracow) District of the State Police and its subordinate units, including command of the district State Police in the city of Cracow, covering the Royal Capital City of Cracow. In order to fill this gap the author focuses on the history of one of the formations subordinate to the command of the district State Police in the city of Cracow, namely its mounted police branch. The roots of this formation can be traced in a mounted branch of the former Austrian C. and K. Police and the Military Guard, which in November 1918 was transformed (along with the Galician National Gendarmerie) into Polish Security Guard for Galicia and Silesia, and then, in December 1919 became a part of the newly formed State Police. The author’s objective was to present the greatest possible range of aspects concerning the service of the Cracow mounted police: issues relating to the organization of the unit, determining its objectives and methods of action, but also supplies, uniforms and weapons of the unit. The author also sought to show the daily service of Cracow mounted police by indicating equestrian tasks performed by the department both these performed daily (e.g. patrol or control of movement) and extraordinary ones (e.g. taking part in official visits or suppressing riots). Despite significant gaps in the existing source material the author managed to outline the history of the Cracow branch of the mounted police command from the beginning of its existence until reorganization of the mounted police, which resulted in the liquidation of the Cracow branch in the spring of 1938.

История польской государственной полиции с 1919-1939 гг. по-прежнему имеет много белых пятен. Одним из них является история VII (краковского) Округа Государственной полиции и его подчиненных подразделений, в том числе Районной комендатуры государственной полиции города- Кракова, охватывающей своим действием королевский столичный город Краков. Чтобы восполнить этот пробел, надо сосредоточить внимание на истории одного из частей, подчиненных комендатуре город- Краков, а именно её конному отряду. Корни этой части следует искать в конном отряде бывшей австрийской Ц. и К. полицейско-военной гвардии, которую в ноябре 1918 г. преобразовано (вместе с Галицкой Национальной жандармерией) в польскую гвардию безопасности для Галиции и Силезии, а затем в декабре 1919 г. принято в ново формированную Государственную полицию. Целью автора было то, чтобы показать максимально возможный спектр аспектов службы в краковской полиции: по вопросам, связанным с организацией части, с определёнными целями и методами действий, но также поставлением, обмундированием и вооружением части. Автор также стремился показать повседневную службу конных полицейских в Кракове, с указаниемвыполняемых задач конного отряда, как ежедневных (нр. патруль или управления движением) так и чрезвычайных (нр. принятие участия в официальных визитах или подавлению беспорядков). Несмотря на большие пробелы в существующем материале, автору удалось представить историю конного отряда краковской комендатуры с самого начала его существования, до реорганизации конных отрядов полиции, которые привели к ликвидации краковского отряда весной 1938 г.
