„Psi ludzie”. Jak obecność psa w życiu singli wpływa na budowanie ich więzi z innymi?

Z danych GUS dotyczących ostatniego spisu powszechnego ludności w Polsce wynika, że ponad 2,3 miliona osób określa się jako osoby żyjące w gospodarstwach jednoosobowych. Dane dotyczące współzamieszkiwania ludzi i psów w Polsce pokazują, że w co drugim domu mieszka pies. Swoją obecnością psy wpływają na jakość życia ludzi, ich kondycję fizyczną i psychiczną; wchodzimy z nimi w interakcje, tworzymy stałe relacje i codzienne rytuały. Zgodnie z koncepcją Clintona R. Sandersa „psi ludzie” włączają psa w obraz własnej, poszerzonej tożsamości – dog-oriented self. Wpływ psów na konstruowanie nie tylko międzygatunkowych, ale i ludzko-ludzkich relacji zyskuje na znaczeniu. W niniejszym artykule na podstawie pogłębionych wywiadów przeprowadzonych wśród 19 osób (singli i singielek), którzy dzielą swoje życie z psem (lub dwoma) przyglądamy się dynamice konstruowania więzi międzygatunkowej i identyfikujemy jej wpływ na oczekiwania wobec przyszłych relacji intymnych i pozostałych relacji międzyludzkich.

Central Statistical Office data shows that more than 2.3 million people in Poland describe themselves as living in single-person households. Data on cohabitation between people and dogs shows that every second home in Poland has a dog. Through their presence, dogs influence people’s quality of life as well as their physical and psychological condition. By interacting with dogs, people form permanent relationships and daily rituals. As characterised by Sanders (1990) who coined the notion of ‘dog-oriented self,’ ‘dog people’ incorporate dogs in their extended identity. Thus, understanding the influence of dogs on the construction of interspecies and human-to-human relationships is gaining importance. In this article, based on in-depth interviews with 19 singles who share their lives with dogs, we look at the dynamics of constructing interspecies bonds and identify their impact on expectations for the future intimate and other interpersonal human-to- human relationships.
