The author discusses baptism as a religious and political event, the beginning of the Polish state. She explains the historical circumstances, i.e. the balance of power in Poland and Europe as well as talks about the place and time of Mieszko I’s baptism. She emphasizes the fact that the present jubilee is celebrated in free Poland with the participation of the political leaders. The answers collected in the survey from several respondents, including clergy, politicians, actors and journalists, point to different aspects of the baptism of Poland.
