W prezentowanym artykule postawiono pytanie: jakie znaczenie ma przykład i obecność św. Józefa w formacji i życiu kapłańskim? W wypowiedziach ostatnich papieży św. Józef jest przedstawiany jako patron kapłanów i przykład kapłańskiego życia. Szczególnie akcentuje się zakorzenienie św. Józefa w życiu wewnętrznym. Jego obecność ma znaczenie w formacji seminaryjnej. Należy podkreślić konieczność refleksji teologicznej na jego temat. Wzrasta bowiem teologiczna świadomość, że chrystologia domaga się nie tylko mariologii, lecz także józefologii. Przykład św. Józefa pomaga kształtować ojcowską postawę kapłana‑mężczyzny ucząc właściwego odniesienia do Chrystusa oraz do Maryi, a co za tym idzie, do kobiety

This reflection on the theme of Saint Joseph in Priestly Formation and in the Life of Priests is the result of the author’s experience of constantly discovering the influence of St. Joseph on the seminary and on priestly life. The Major Seminary of the Diocese of Kalisz has chosen Saint Joseph, guardian of the Universal Church, as its patron. Seminarians take part in the activities at the Shrine of St. Joseph. At the beginning of the formational year they make an act of entrustment which is repeated after ordination to the priesthood. The article intends to answer the following question: What is the meaning of Saint Joseph’s example and presence for priestly life and formation? On the basis of events presented in the Bible and the pronouncements of recent Popes, St. Joseph is presented as a patron and an example of priestly life. His role in one’s inner life is particularly emphasized. The presence of St. Joseph has a unique meaning for both the formation of those preparing for the priesthood and the life of those who are already priests. His example helps forming the priest’s fatherly attitude, as that of a man. St. Joseph teaches priests how to relate properly to Christ. He is an example of how to relate to Mary and, through Mary, to women in general.
