The source material which is the basis for the present article comes from the excavations in a settlement in Baldram (stand 1) and Podzamcze (stand 1) as well as in the Podzamcze fortified settlement (stand 2) in the years 1967-1971 and 1994-1995 by the expedition of the Malbork Castle Museum under the supervision of Mieczysław Haftka. The conducted multi-faceted analysis of technology-morphological and stylistic transformations of early medieval ceramic from the Baldram-Podzamcze micro region enabled one to make certain observations relating to development of local pottery crafts in the early Middle Ages. Formulating certain hypothesis within a range of chronological-spacial connections gave basis to making an attempt to evaluate local pottery traditions and detect the influences the pottery was under. On the considered stands, there are two settlement phases possible to synchronize which are placed in the chronological range from the second half of 9th century to the end of 11th/ beginning of 12th century. The comparative analysis that was performed with respect to investigating the chronological-spacial connections in ceramic from the Baldram-Podzamcze micro region evidences slight technology-stylistic difference in the local pottery. Generally speaking, great coincidence with main tendencies of early medieval pottery development in the North-West Slavdom was showed. The majority of distinguished types of vessels is described as appearing also in other regions, however a certain group of crafted articles, among both partly coated vessels and fully coated ones, seems to clearly distinguish when it comes to craftsmanship standards and stylistics in the context of typical vessels. The results of performed studies were of crucial significance for chronological identification relating to distinguished phases of occupancy in fortified settlements in Baldram, Podzamcze as well as the one near the Podzamcze.
