There are no doubts that Polish and Chinese educational systems differ a lot. “I’m very surprised, I have so many questions” – was on the author’s mind, while he was working in China. The aim of this work was to try to find “amazement” on the “other side” – what is surprising for Chinese students in Poland. This text aims to present some daily pictures from studying in China to illustrate problems of Chinese students who have to find their place in the new situation. Part of this article is based on conversations and surveys with Chinese participants of Polish language courses and students from China. This article also includes some basic comparison of language differences between Polish and Mandarin. The author was inspired by his work at Harbin Normal University in China and by education of Chinese students in Warsaw.
