In the article the state of enterprises of machine-building industry, in particular, the volume of the realized industrial products, degree of wear of the fixed assets, innovative activity, profitability of operating activity of machine-building enterprises are investigated. The basic factors of external environment negatively influencing on development of enterprises of machine-building complex of the Sumy region are selected.
