Przedmiotem artykułu jest analiza systemu bezpośredniej likwidacji szkód (BLS) i modeli, za pomocą których wdrożono go do polskiej praktyki likwidacji szkód komunikacyjnych. Przedstawione zostaną również podobne rozwiązania występujące w innych państwach europejskich. W szczególności modele BLS poddane zostaną ocenie pod kątem jego relacji do istoty ubezpieczenia odpowiedzialności cywilnej posiadaczy pojazdów mechanicznych. Autor dochodzi do wniosku, że skąpe regulacje normatywne, stanowiące oparcie systemu, nie naruszają istoty ubezpieczenia OC, jednakże podaje pod rozwagę istnienie potrzeby uwzględnienia jego mechanizmów w polskim prawie ubezpieczeniowym.

The aim of the article is to analyse the Direct Claims Adjustment system and models, by means of which it has been implemented in the Polish claims settlement practice. Besides, similar arrangements applied in other European countries have been presented. In particular, however, the DCA models have been evaluated in terms of their relationship to the essence of third-party motor liability insurance. Having come to the conclusion that the inadequacy of normative regulations, on which the system is based does not violate the essence of liability insurance, the author considers the need to include its mechanisms in Polish insurance law.
