Artykuł ukazuje fenomen niepełnosprawności w kategoriach zależności i mniejszości oraz rozpatruje możliwości doświadczania podmiotowości i kształtowania tożsamości osób niepełnosprawnych jako niezależnych, autonomicznych, samostanowiących. Rozważania dotyczą także rozpoznania znaczenia „kultury niepełnosprawności” oraz obejmują humanistyczno-podmiotowy model niepełnosprawności i kwestię jego zastosowania w celu zmiany wizerunku osoby niepełnosprawnej, postrzegania jej rodziny i procesu rehabilitacji. Autorka podkreśla znaczenie podmiotowego traktowania osoby z niepełnosprawnością i stwarzania warunków realnego doświadczania przez nią samodzielności, decyzyjności, sprawczości.

The article shows the phenomenon of disability in terms of dependence and minority, and investigates the possibilities of experiencing subjectivity and developing the identity of people with disabilities as independent, autonomous and self-determined people. It also discusses the recognition of the importance of “disability culture,” the humanistic and subjective model of disability and the issue of using this model in order to change the image of people with disabilities and how their families and rehabilitation are perceived. The Author emphasizes the importance of treating people with disabilities subjectively and providing them with conditions that will enable them to really experience independence, decisiveness and agency.
