The aim of archaeological investigations in Czaszkowo carried out in September 2010 was to verify location of two pieces of silver ornaments found near the River Dajna, in former Lake Nidajno. During archaeological excavations and metal detector survey over one hundred objects were found, first of all iron spear and lance heads, fragments of swords, knives, fragments of chainmail, bronze melted ornaments and gilded silver belt fittings. They can be initially dated to the Late Roman and Migration Periods. Analyses of destroyed soil and peat layers and the setting of the above mentioned items indicate that the objects were intentionally deposited in the waters of the former lake. Initially they can be interpreted as votive weapon deposit or an element oflocal burial rites.
