Cultural tolerance is a consequent stage of the development of interdenominational tolerance principle. Its fundamental idea (a priori equality of cultures and recognition of incommensurable basic values) failed in the political context (the failure of multiculturalism in Europe), but looks fully effective in other spheres, particularly in relationship between philosophical cultures. Incommensurability of languages and untranslatability of terminological systems engender unique conceptual complexes which are of interest for any philosophical culture. In that way arise the reasons for authentic mutual recognition of philosophical cultures and renunciation of their division into “truly philosophic” and “non-truly philosophic” cultures. The “European vocabulary of philosophies” is an important step in this direction since it permits new evaluation of the potential of philosophical languages and cultures. The peculiarities of Russian translations of main Des cartes’ Latin works are analyzed in order to confirm this point.
