The subject of the article regards the image of the witch house, depicted in various works of German literature for children. The subject of the analysis is the evaluation of the image of the house as a location component – beginning from the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, where the mysterious house-trap is located in the middle of a grim forest, through a place where fear and magic merge, to a contemporary, simplified symbolism. We see the image of the house as a liminal area of the real world and the magic one, for example as a daily dwelling of the little witch – a place of education.
