W artykule zaprezentowano nowe tendencje i sposoby działania w zakresie aktywizacji i integracji długotrwale bezrobotnych, jakie podejmuje się w różnych krajach Unii Europejskiej, w tym również w Polsce. Szczególny nacisk położono na wskazanie mocnych i słabych stron dwóch konkurujących ze sobą podejść train i work first, które stosuje się do zwalczania długotrwałego bezrobocia. Na podstawie doświadczeń opisywanych krajów podjęto również próbę nakreślenia głównych kierunków działań zmierzających do budowy skutecznej strategii aktywizacji długotrwale bezrobotnych.

The paper presents new approaches for activation and integration of long-term unemployed in various European countries and in Poland. The main focus is put on analysing possible benefits and limitations of train-first and workfirst strategies used to fight long-term unemployment. Based on the experience from different European countries it attempts to outline key messages and identify success factors for building an effective activation strategy of the long-term unemployed.
