Проблема пребывания поляков на Кавказе (в XIX в.) и шире — общественно-куль­турных отношений между поляками и коренными жителями — является важной для понимания современных отношений жителей Кавказа к Польше и полякам и наоборот. Автор проводит в статье анализ доступных ему биографических и мемуарных данных с целью описания, как формировались отношения поляков, пребывающих (по разным причинам — чаще всего вследствие ссылки) в XIX в. на Кавказе с туземцами, атакже с местными жителями и русскими властями. В даной статье расматриваются следующие вопросы: 1) введения (с особенным уче­том историко-географических и общественно-культурных условий); 2) общего обзора вопроса отношений поляков к Кавказу; 3) тщательного обсуждения сущности проблемы общественно-культурных отношений поляков к кавказским народам в контексте спец­ифики XIX в.; 4) хода и динамики соответствующих боевых сражений; 5) специфики повседневной жизни поляков на Кавказе XIX в. и 6) заключения и выводов на тему сущ­ности намеченного взаглавии вопроса. Настоящая статья является введением в более широкое обсуждение сущности идина­мики вопроса.

The problem of the presence of Poles in the Caucasus (in the 19th century) and, more broadly, of social and cultural contacts between the Poles and the indigenous population, is important to the understanding of the attitude of today’s inhabitants of the Caucasus to Poland and Poles and vice versa. Bearing the above in mind, the author presents an analysis of the available bibliographic data and memoirs to describe the relations between the Poles living in the Caucasus in the 19th century (for various reasons, usually because they were exiled there) and the so-called indigenous peoples as well as the Russian population and the authorities. The available sources and the research logic adopted by the author made it necessary for the structure of his analysis to focus on the following detailed points: 1) introduction (particu­larly taking into account historical and geographical as well as socio-cultural determinants); 2) general outline of the relations between Poles and the Caucasus; 3) detailed discussion of the essence of social-cultural contacts between Poles and Caucasian nations in the context of the specificity of the 19th century; 4) course and dynamics of relevant armed conflicts; 5) nature of the daily functioning of Poles in the Caucasus in the 19th century as well as 6) con­clusions concerning the essence of the problem indicated in the title. Given the available source materials and ways of analysing the subject in question, the present article is a contribution to a broader discussion about the essence and dynamics of the issue in question.
