The paper deals with the issue of modern Orthodox anthropology, which is presented on the basis of the current Patriarch’s thought. The purpose of these considerations is to present the interpretation of the idea of human freedom and responsibility contained in the thought of the Patriarch of Moscow and all the Rus, Kirill. The text includes the answer of the Patriarch to the question of what freedom is and what the consequences of the abuse of the concept of freedom are if one rejects the category of moral responsibility for one’s own actions. Cyril underlines the deep Christian roots of both ideas, while indicating a secular point of view on this issue. Hence, the interpretation of the human condition from the point of view of the Patriarch, which has been reflected in this article.
