This research note was motivated by two incentives. First, it was participation of the author in a very interesting European project Professionalization and Social Impact of European Political Science (PROSEPS, COST Action CA15207, 2016-2021), and second, it was the author’s participation in the panel of the VIII. Congress of the Czech Political Science Association (September 2021) with the title Where are you going, Czech Political Science? The aim of this paper is to reflect the development of the Czech political science in the context of European development. The structure follows the framework of the topics discussed at the PROSEPS meetings in particular working groups and focuses on the problems of state of discipline, visibility and social impact of political science, advisory role of political science, and internationalization. The author argues that while the Czech political science has gone through important development that radically increased its quality in many aspects, it seems that glass ceiling prevents the Czech political scientists to play the role of “gatekeepers”, i.e., the role of those who can influence the aiming of the discipline, who can raise the topics and support the quality of research.
