W perspektywie globalnej badania nad dzieciństwem stanowią wyraźnie wyodrębniony obszar badań charakteryzujący się określoną tożsamością obejmującą specyficzne ujęcie przedmiotu badań, epistemologicznych aspektów badań, określoną metodologią badań – rozwiązaniami metodycznymi i zasadami prowadzenia badań. Mają też swoją aparaturę pojęciową oraz odznaczają się różnymi formami instytucjonalizacji (jednostki badawcze, czasopisma naukowe, kursy akademickie). Artykuł przedstawia poszczególne aspekty tożsamościowe, ukazując charakter, rozwój oraz zakres współczesnych badań nad dzieciństwem na tle międzynarodowego przedmiotowego dyskursu.

In a global perspective childhood studies are clearly defined and visible area of research with established identity, that is constructed by a specific object, epistemological aspects, methodology and methods as well as rules of conducting research. Childhood studies have also an own set of key concepts and have different forms of institutionalization (entities of research, journals and academic courses). The paper presents particular aspects of the identity of childhood studies, showing the character, the development and the range of modern childhood studies on the background of international discourse.
