The academic discourse concerning university in “Pedagogical Yearbook”
Languages of publication
Abstracts
The article analyses the academic discourse concerning university that has taken place in ‘Rocznik Pedagogiczny’ (“Pedagogical Yearbook”) since 2004. On the one hand, it is a discourse of symbolic elites, which undoubtedly include scientists. On the other hand, it is a ‘marginalized’ academic discourse, because it is created by the representatives of humanities and social sciences, mostly teachers, who are a burden for the currently defined role of university as a corporation or a competition - and profit-oriented capitalist enterprise. Lech Nijakowski’s concept of discourse keystones was used for the analysis of the gathered empirical material since it allows to capture the main elements of the topics of academic discourse and to identify discourse complexes that create its structure. This approach allows to determine the problem areas important to the humanist-oriented academics and to reveal the elements omitted in the discussion.
