Średniowieczna duchowość monastyczna w charakterystyczny dla siebie sposób ukazuje miłość Boga do człowieka. Do przedstawicieli tej tradycji teologicznej należy bł. Wilhelm z Saint-Thierry. Artykuł ma na celu ukazanie myśli tego teologa i mistyka w aspekcie duchowości Najświętszego Serca Jezusowego oraz wskazanie jego wpływu na rozwój tego kultu. Przedstawienie piękna myśli i języka tego „piewcy miłości Bożej” stanowi także zachętę do pogłębiania jego doktryny duchowej, zmierzającej do poznania Jezusa Chrystusa i do zjednoczenia z Nim w miłości.

Medieval monastic spirituality shows God’s love for human in its characteristic way. Representatives of this theological tradition include blessed William of Saint-Thierry. The article aims to present the thoughts of this theologian and mystic in the aspect of the spirituality of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to indicate his influence on the development of this cult. Showing the beauty of the thoughts and language of this „singer of God’s love” is also an encouragement to deepen his spiritual doctrine pointed at knowing Jesus Christ and uniting with Him in love.
