The Club of Catholic Intellectuals in Olsztyn was registered on 5 December 1980. It was dissolved after the Communist authorities had proclaimed martial law on 13 December 1981. It was only on 28 November 1988 that the regional authorities consented to the establishment of the Warmia Catholics’ Club in Olsztyn. The Club organized prayers, pilgrimages, lectures and meetings with interesting people. It actively promoted the Catholic Church’s teaching in public debates focusing on pressing social issues. After 20 years of activity, the Club’s members decided to restore the organization’s original name of the Club of Catholic Intellectuals in Olsztyn.
