Jednym z największych problemów badania świata mediów jest duża liczba danych – zwanych big data. Stare metody są zupełnie nieprzydatne do badania nowych typów danych. Od kilkunastu lat dynamicznie rozwija się humanistyka cyfrowa, która proponuje nowe narzędzia do badania big data, w tym wizualizację informacji. W Polsce problematyka ta nie była do tej pory przedmiotem szerszego zainteresowania za strony badaczy. Sytuacja ta uległa zmianie, gdy w 2016 r. ukazało się studium Veslavy Osińskiej Wizualizacja informacji. Książka jest przeznaczona dla informatologów, praktyków i reprezentantów każdej innej dziedziny naukowej specjalizującej się w zakresie wizualizacji informacji. Z pewnością skorzystają z niej również osoby wrażliwe na piękno infografiki lub nowicjusze poszukujący wydajnych sposobów prezentacji dużych zbiorów danych.

One of the biggest problems is the large number of media research data – called big data. The old methods are completely unsuitable for testing new types of data.From more than a dozen dynamically develops digital humanities, which proposes new tools to study the big date, including visualization of information. In Poland this problem have not been the subject of much interest for researchers. This situation changed when, in 2016, the study Veslava Osińska Visualization of information was published. The book is intended for researchers in the field of information science, practitioners and representatives of each scientific field specializing in Infovis. Certainly the people sensitive to the beauty of infographics or novices looking for efficient ways of presenting large data sets will appreciate the current work.
