The author of this article attempts to analyse the way in which local dialects are currently perceived by a selected group of Internet users, i.e. graduates of philological faculties. The empirical material consists of the record of a lengthy discussion concerning local dialects that has been carried out on the Internet forum for translators. The analysis of the posts shows, inter alia, the way Internet users evaluate the condition of local dialects, the way they value dialects and their opinions on the reasons why local dialects are disappearing. This subject is related to the research concerning linguistic awareness of the users of the Polish language.
