Article title

Culture and consumption in the context of the stages of economic development

Title variants

Kultura i konsumpcja w kontekście teorii etapów rozwoju gospodarczego

Languages of publication

The paper analyzes the role of cultural changes taking place on the demand side of the economy in building its capacity to advance to higher stages of economic development. Assuming the “cultural turn” perspective, it is shown that not only can the advancement of enculturation precede the progress to Porter’s consecutive stages of eco¬nomic development but it can also mark a new path of such development.
