The article presents the issues connected with the Polish political system as well as the role and the position of the Armed Forces in the political system of the Republic of Poland. It also discusses the realms and the functions of the political system. Moreover, one of the most difficult aspects of the organization of a democratic state, namely a civilian control over the Armed Forces in a country, is presented. Different ways of exercising authority by civilian institutions, such as the Parliament, the Head of state, the Government and the Minister of Defence, over the Polish Armed forces are also outlined. Additionally, the article shows the structure of the new command system and its function in creating the Polish security policy.
