Recently in the management of regional development scientists pay more and more attention to the use of logistic tools, including the forming of regional logistics systems. One of the perspective areas of research under such conditions is consideration of factors that affect the environment in the process of decision-making on regional development and formation of regional logistics centers. In the article the author definition of regional logistics system is formulated with regard to its impact on the environment. Also the activities of the regional logistics centers for sustainable development are presented. The approaches to determine the optimal location of logistics center in Sumy region using the "center of gravity" and a single medium are considered. A scientific and methodical approach to determine the optimal location of logistics center is presented considering harmful impact on the environment.
