W artykule dokonano analizy istoty zjawiska zaniedbania dzieci na gruncie polskich przepisów prawnych. Wskazano, że w literaturze naukowej samo pojęcie zaniedbania nie jest jednoznaczne. Pozostaje w gestii zainteresowań badawczych pedagogów i psychologów. Natomiast z prawnego punktu widzenia warto zwrócić uwagę na odpowiedzialność rodziców za niewywiązywanie się z obowiązków wobec dzieci, opartą na założeniu o racjonalności prawodawcy.

The article analyzes the essence of the phenomenon of child neglect under Polish law. It was pointed out that in the scientific literature the very concept of neglect is not explicit. It remains at the discretion of research interests of educators and psychologists.However, from a legal point of view, it is worth paying attention to the responsibility of parents for non-compliance with obligations towards children, based on the assumption of the rationality of the legislator.
