Principles of legislative technique (Principles) are adopted in Poland as an addendum to the regulation of the Prime Minister and have been in force since 1st August 2002. Verification of completeness and currency of the Principles should be carried out due to dynamic changes in the legal system arising out of obligations relating to the EU membership. The author presents scholarly basis of the Principles and expectations of the legislators as the background of the project of amendment to the Principles prepared by the Government Legislation Centre. New rules are proposed with reference to the so called “temporary provisions”. The part of Principles concerning the drafting of criminal provisions should take into account the relations between the acts adopted by the Parliament and the directly applicable law of the EU.
