Celem artykułu jest wskazanie, w jaki sposób uczestnicy rynku pracy powinni budować swój indywidualny profil kompetencji, które z nich są szczególnie pożądane wśród pracodawców i dlaczego właśnie je powinno się doskonalić. Zdobyta podczas studiów wiedza stanowi bazę, wokół której rozwijane są przyszłe umiejętności; ich ciągłą aktualizację wymusza gospodarka oparta na wiedzy.

One of the most important challenges in the XXI century is the ability to adjust the peoples’ competences to the needs of the labour market. It’s so significant also because of the unemployment rate. That is why all institutions responsible for education and labour market should join their forces and work out the solutions on such burning problems as: (1) which qualifications are most desirable for the future jobs?; (2) how to develop among students proper competences suited to the labour markets’ needs? The paper tries to answer on that important questions. Acquiring new knowledge and improvement of competences can occur in different circumstances. It’s worth mentioning that competences combined with qualifications determine the ones’ success on the labour market.
