The article, written on the occasion of the 160th birth anniversary and the 80th anniversary of the death of Vincent d'Indy - a little known French composer (1851-1931) contains a short biography and elaboration of religious works. V. d'Indy has not composed a lot - a list of his works counts just over one hundred works, in which about 1 / 5 are religious and liturgical compositions. V. d'Indy often used the melodies of Gregorian chant in his compositions, even on stage (f.e. Fervaal, L'Etranger). In this regard, the drama La Légende de Saint Christophe, abounding with numerous Gregorian topics, comes to the fore. The beauty of music of V. d'Indy, remains today in the shadow because of the political and religious beliefs of the composer and his aesthetic views. Although he eventually became a victim of his own conservatism, he remained faithful to his artistic ideas until his death.
