Prezentowany artykuł dotyczy treningów empatii jako elementu edukacji medycznej. Empatia jest jednym z konstruktów teoretycznych, które nie posiadają jednoznacznej definicji. W literaturze zazwyczaj zwraca się uwagę na dwa podstawowe wchodzące w jej skład komponenty: emocjonalny –dotyczący wrażliwości na afektywne stany drugiej osoby, oraz poznawczy–związany z umiejętnością przyjęcia perspektywy innych ludzi. Wyniki badań potwierdzają, że wyższy poziom empatii lekarza jest związany z korzyściami dla relacji lekarz – pacjent oraz dla przebiegu procesu leczenia. W artykule omówiono wyniki badań dotyczących związków poziomu empatii z jakością relacji lekarz –pacjent oraz z edukacją medyczną. Następnie zaprezentowano opisane w literaturze propozycje treningów empatii wykorzystywanych w kształceniu przyszłych lekarzy.

The article concerns the training of empathy as part of medical education. Empathy is a theoretical construct that does not have a clear definition. Literature generally draws attention to two basic components of empathy: emotional – the ability to experience emotions of another person, and cognitive – associated with the ability to adopt the perspective of other people. The results confirm that higher levels of physician empathy are associated with benefits for the doctor-patient relationship and to the processof treatment. The article discusses the results of studies on the relationships among empathy, the quality of the doctor-patient relationship, and medical education. Empathy training proposals are later presented and discussed.
