Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie koncepcji morfogenetycznej zmiany kulturowej zaproponowanej przez Margaret S. Archer. Przedstawione w tekście główne elementy tej koncepcji umiejscowione zostały w kontekście założeń realizmu socjologicznego i podstawowych rozstrzygnięć ontologicznych dokonanych przez Davida Lockwooda (integracja społeczna vs integracja systemowa) i Roya Bhaskara (realizm struktur społecznych). Autor podkreśla istotność proponowanego przez Archer dualizmu analitycznego jako programu eksplanacyjnego opartego na tych rozstrzygnięciach. Artykuł jest także postawieniem pytania o aktualność i użyteczność prezentowanej koncepcji w opisywaniu i wyjaśnianiu przemian kultury współczesnych społeczeństw.

The aim of this article is to present Margaret S. Archer’s morphogenetic approach to cultural change. The author places the main elements of Archer’s conception in the context of sociological realism and ontological postulates made by David Lockwood (social integration vs system integration) and Roy Bhaskar (realist social structure). The author underlines the importance of Archer’s analytical dualism as the explanatory program based on those postulates. The aim of the article is also to pose a question on topicality and usefulness of the conception in describing and explaining cultural changes in contemporary societies.
